BMW's role in the Aerospace Industry

Some say BMW is new to aviation, not true. BMW entered existence as a business entity following a restructuring of the Rapp Motorenwerke aircraft engine manufacturing firm in 1917. The company was once heavily involved in aviation. It all started when they created the BMW 132 Radial engine, the company gained reputation and was respected all throughout Germany and later on throughout the world. BMW played a major role in aerial support during WW1. After several decades in the automotive industry they have now merged with Airbus to design the cabin interior of the new A350.
